Joyce Announces $100K for the Blue Hill Observatory & Science Center

BOSTON – $100,000 in funding for the Blue Hill Observatory & Science Center will be released in the next few weeks. The funding, proposed by Senator Brian A. Joyce, passed the Senate in late May and was included in the final version of the budget approved by the House and Senate in July.

“The Observatory is an important regional resource, and with this funding the researchers at the Observatory will be able to continue important, long-term climate studies,” said Joyce.

The Blue Hill Observatory and Science Center contributes significantly to climate science research and education.  Constructed in 1885, the Observatory has long served the community through meticulous weather recording and observation, long-term climate studies, and opportunities for public engagement and education.

With this financial support, the Blue Hill Observatory and Science Center can continue to pursue important climate research and foster greater public understanding and appreciation for atmospheric science.###
