Plans are underway for the 2017 Memorial Day ceremonies scheduled for Monday, May 29th, 2017.

This year’s observance will commemorate the 100th birthday of President John F. Kennedy. Accordingly we will have two special guests with ties to our US Navy joining Milton on Memorial Day. Milton’s Director of Veterans Service Kevin J Cook has invited the color guard from the USS Constitution to march in the Town’s annual parade and Dr. James R. Holmes, professor of strategy at the Naval War College, will be the featured speaker.

An important part of this year’s observance is the 100th anniversary of the United States entry into World War I. Milton’s relationship to this historical event will be a program highlight. Ceremonies will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Town Green. Participants will then march to the Cemetery where the formal program is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.

Milton’s Memorial Day complete program will be announced the week of May 22nd.
