Playground ribbon cutting ceremony to be held this weekend

A ribbon cutting ceremony unveiling the name of the first playground renovated by the Milton Playground Planners and the Town of Milton will be held at Shields Park on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 9:00 a.m.

The first 50 kids in attendance will receive commemorative shirts. There will also be a temporary story walk installed by the Milton Early Childhood Alliance as well as a summer fun raffle. The event is being sponsored by Coldwell Banker.

The playground will be named after Dr. Frank Giuliano, who served as Superintendent of Schools from 1978-1993 and was a pivotal figure in launching the district’s French Immersion Program. He was nominated by Beth Neville, who won the Milton Playground Planners’ naming rights essay contest.

“I am truly honored to have the playground at Shields Park named in my family name,” Dr. Giuliano said. “I came to Milton because it is a community that wants quality living and stayed after retiring from the schools because it is such a nice town. This is a town where everyone gets involved. The Milton Playground Planners have worked very hard to make Milton a great place to live.”

Dr. Giuliano has also been an active member of the Milton Rotary Club, just recently stepping down from his 5th term as the club’s President. He lives in Milton with his wife, Janet, and together have 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
