Interfaith Social Services’ 21st Annual Feed the Hungry Gala raised funds for families

Funds raised at Annual Feed the Hungry Gala to aid thousands of South Shore families

Hundreds of Interfaith Social Services’ supporters gathered December 7th to eat, drink, play games, dance and celebrate as they “partied with a purpose” for the organization’s 21st Annual Feed the Hungry Gala. The event, held at Granite Links Golf Club, raised more than $315,000 to support Interfaith’s programs.

Interfaith provides a safety net for families that may need food, housing assistance or mental health counseling. Interfaith’s food pantry distributes nearly 500,000 meals each year and seasonal programs provide local children in need with Halloween costumes, holiday gifts, school backpacks and more. Proceeds from the gala provide for a third of Interfaith’s annual budget.

Attendees at this year’s event sampled dishes from local restaurants Alma Nove, Davio’s, Eat Local, Granite Links Golf Club, JP Fuji Group, Smokey Stax BBQ, The Corner Stop Eatery, The Quarry Restaurant & Lounge, The Range and The Townshend.

The gala’s new Craft Beer Corner offered samples from Bent Water Brewing, Mayflower Brewing, Stellwagen Beer Company and Widowmaker Brewing. Other beverages were provided by BinEnds, Bradford Distillery, Samuel Adams and Simpson Spring.

Ally Donnelly of NBC10 Boston, a longtime supporter of Interfaith, emceed the program. Donnelly was recognized later in the evening for her commitment to serving children in need. A corner of Interfaith’s food pantry, where diapers, baby products and snacks for children are stored, will be dubbed “Ally’s Corner” in her honor.

The Aldous Collins Band ended the evening with an energetic set as Coffee Break Café, Fratelli’s, Montilio’s and Sadie Mae’s Cupcake Café & Bakery provided desserts and coffee for attendees.

The Feed the Hungry Gala was produced by a dedicated committee headed by Donna Mavromates, of Hingham, and Maura O’Brien, of Scituate. This year’s lead sponsors include Presenting Sponsor Arbella Insurance Foundation and Champion Sponsors Granite Telecommunications and JetBlue Vacations. Hero Sponsors include the Rural Masonic Lodge of Quincy, MavroCreative, Quincy Mutual Group, Signet Electronic Systems and South Shore Living.

The community is invited to mark their calendars for next year’s Feed the Hungry Gala, to be held December 6th, 2019.
