Milton Council on Aging receives $4,000 donation

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton (BID-Milton) recently made a $4,000 donation to the Milton Council on Aging to help support the Council’s monthly Lunch and Learn Program.

The long-time program brings BID-Milton physicians and other health professionals to the Senior Center on Walnut Street to present educational programs on a variety of health topics followed by lunch.

“We are very pleased as the community’s hospital to help support this valuable program for our seniors,” said Richard Fernandez, president and CEO of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton. “Education is key to preventing health problems, and this is an excellent forum for seniors to learn more about common medical conditions and how to take care of their health.”

Added Mary Ann Sullivan, director of the Milton Council of Aging: “We appreciate the generosity of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton in helping us provide this valuable program.”

The donation to the Milton Council on Aging was made through the hospital’s Community Benefits Program. This program provides healthcare services and resources for uninsured or underinsured patients, community health screenings and education as well as programs to meet public health needs. Last year, BID-Milton provided more than $200,000 in community benefits to the Town of Milton and its residents.
