Electronic Voting Committee seeking resident input on electronic voting at Town Meeting

Should Town Meeting Members vote electronically?

Dear Milton Resident,

Our Town Moderator recently formed an Electronic Voting Committee to review the feasibility of using electronic voting technology at Milton Town Meeting.

We have put together a simple web site regarding the issue which you can find here.

Please take a moment to have a look and complete a very short poll.

It is an interesting technology that approximately 30+ towns in the Commonwealth have adopted. The committee is very interested in your thoughts..

Regards,

Frank Schroth, Chair, Town Meeting Member Precinct 2

Editor’s Note: As a point of clarification, this review pertains to electronic voting by Town Meeting Members at Town Meeting(s). It is not for resident electronic voting during elections. However, it is important that all residents understand the purpose of the committee and the study. Currently, Town Meeting members vote by voice (“aye” or “no”), with an occasional standing vote required in cases where voice votes cannot be adequately determined by the Town Moderator.
