Arthur Doyle announces candidacy for Milton Select Board

My name is Arthur Doyle and I am a candidate for the Milton Select Board. I present this candidacy for your thoughtful consideration and vote.

My background and experience fit well with the duties and responsibilities of the Milton Select Board. Being highly strategic and timely with policies and practices are essential for responding to our increasingly challenging landscape.

My first engagement in town government began with election from Precinct 6 to the Town Meeting where I served for over a decade, along with several years of service as a member of the town’s Conservation Commission.

Interrupted by assignments to my organization’s policy office in our nation’s capitol, leadership of its Midwest division, and management responsibilities with its global office in Manhattan, I was then appointed its New England regional vice president.  My wife Susan and our three children sought a community that was the best fit for us.  Our choice was Milton.

I again became involved in the town; elected a Town Meeting Member from Precinct 7, reappointed to the Conservation Commission, and appointed as co-chair for the Long Range Planning Committee of the Milton Public Schools to which I brought my graduate management training and professional experience in strategic planning.

That diligent committee’s two-year effort produced a number of recommendations for enhancing both our schools and the community including academic services, fiscal planning, and the start of our town-wide consolidated facilities management.

Subsequent appointments included Election Warden for Precinct 3 and for Precinct 4, and membership on the Business and Citizens’ Advisory Committee to the East Milton Square Parking and Access Study.

Collaboration, planning, and timely decision-making are crucial to sustaining Milton as a quality community for all its citizens.  This past year the Warrant Committee advised us about “…the ongoing needs to maintain government provided services at the level to which our residents have become accustomed.”

Today and tomorrow will require vision, experience, and the realization of new opportunities essential to a first-rate community for our families and our neighbors.   And so I ask for one of your two votes for our Select Board in Milton’s June 9 election.

With gratitude,

Arthur Doyle
