“Do people give a holiday tip for trash and recycling workers?” – advice from Milton Neighbors

A member of Milton Neighbors recently asked, “Do people give a holiday tip for trash and recycling workers?” and received a number of helpful responses.

“My friend’s husband is a trash guy and he said during Christmas he gets all sorts of things from money to food to gift certificates.”

“I just give the mailman a dunks gift card.”

“I give $20.”

“We have a box of snacks and water we leave out also.”

“I used to when we had the same guys every week…..before recycling. Now, there are so many different guys!!!”

“I always give the trash/recycling/mail carriers [$10] dunks cards.”

“Yes. I tip the trash guys 2x per year. Once at Xmas and once in the summer.”

“Yes I do. Dunks GC and last year my daughter ran out some holiday cookies on the day they collected. They were super appreciative and I can tell the difference this year with the service provided.”

“No !!! That’s their job!!!
I am a nurse and I don’t get tips for the holidays! I get to work them!!!”

“I give $20 a truck.”

“…How do you do this logistically? Tape an envelope to the lid of the trash can and another to the recycling can?”
