Milton Public Library Offers Free Career Workshops via Zoom Starting August 4th

Join the Milton Public Library for a 4-part series of free career workshops via Zoom starting August 4, 2020.

This series has something to offer everyone as they grapple with COVID-19 and its impact on employment. Please see the dates and descriptions of each workshop below.

Tuesday, August 4, 2020 – “Adjusting to a New Normal”

7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

This will be a virtual program about grappling with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on employment issues and job search trends. This interactive virtual Zoom meeting will address a series of topics including, but not limited to working from home, remaining positive and productive amidst disruptions to everyday life, building relationships through collaborations, and taking advantage of free online tools. Our presenter will be employment expert Gary Gekow who will give a virtual talk.

Tuesday, September 8, 2020 – “Changing Careers: Reinventing Oneself”

7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Transitioning into a new profession can be a challenging and daunting undertaking. We will discuss and explore various strategies to help make the transition from one industry to another a smooth one. This is a group discussion where everyone’s experiences and opinions are welcomed.

The presenter will be Senior Employment Specialist/Career Coach Gary Gekow, who has 30 years of recruiting and employment services experience in the Boston staffing industry. He works closely with client companies in many industries and job seekers in various specialties.

Tuesday, October 6, 2020 – “Tips for a Successful Interview”

7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

Prior to COVID -19, many companies were implementing phone and video interviews as part of their hiring process. Now virtual interviews are becoming commonplace as it relates to remote hiring. This Zoom workshop will address many topics including ideal locations and conditions for conducting the interview, the importance of body language, technology overviews, appropriate dress codes, and strategies to build confidence.

While attending these events and dropping off a resume is a good start, deeper engagement is required in today’s job market. We will discuss networking strategies to better enhance your employment attainment prospects.
