Veterans Services update

After the public comment period, Kevin Cook, Director of Veterans Services, gave an update on wanting to establish Milton as a ‘Purple Heart Community. The purpose and meaning of a city/community being called a Purple Heart Community is to honor and remember military personnel wounded or killed in combat with hostile forces. The Purple Heart is specifically a combat decoration and it is the United States oldest military medal. Once this is established, he would like to put up street signs designating Milton as a ‘Purple Heart Community’. He also spoke about a Veteran’s Day Remembrance to take place on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2021. More details to be forthcoming.

The Select Board is considering putting together some alternate flight plan ideas along with data requested from MIT and resubmitting their request to continue researching alternative options to mitigate flight noise for the town.

East Milton Square update

MassDOT took a look at the parking spaces issue and attempted to see where they could make some changes and modifications that will allow for the restoration of some of the parking spaces. Therefore, 8 or 9 of the 15 parking spots will be restored. The project should be completed by May 2022.

National opiod litigation settlement discussion/approval
