Kathy Landers Keyes announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting member, Precinct 6

Kathy Landers Keyes is a candidate for Precinct 6 Town Meeting member, seeking your vote on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

Keyes is a lifelong resident of Milton having grown up in the neighborhood behind Town Hall. She attended St. Mary of the Hills School from 1st through 8th grade. After attending Fontbonne Academy for two years, she then graduated from Milton High School in 1984. As a Town Meeting Member, it is important to Keyes to hear from neighbors with concerns or questions on articles put forth by the Warrant Committee. Neighborhood engagement is important for informed representation. Community involvement has always been important to Keyes She holds community service in high regard and feels it is necessary to be involved with and be a voice for Precinct 6 at Town Meeting. Listening to fellow residents is a vital role as an elected representative in shaping the future vision of Milton. As a third-generation resident of Milton, Keyes values all the neighborhoods that collectively form this town.

What effects one neighborhood effects all other neighborhoods, as there are no boundaries. All neighborhoods and its residents are connected to each other. Some of Keyes service to this town includes:

  • The Milton Junior Woman’s Club. She joined this former nonprofit civic organization in 2007 and was appointed as its treasurer for the 2008-09 fiscal year. In 2009-10, she served as the club’s president. She served the club for 13 years.
  • Milton Road Race. As a member of the Milton Junior Woman’s Club, she had played an active role on the Milton Road Race, the club’s former flagship fundraiser. Keyes was on the sponsorship subcommittee in 2007-08; and was road race co-director in 2008-09. She then served as its publicity chairperson for the event for many years.
  • Milton Historical Commission. In September 2018, Keyes was appointed by the Milton Select Board to serve on the Milton Historical Commission. The commission serves the town to identify and chronicle the architectural and historical resources of Milton. She served 2 years.
  • Milton Historical Society. In August 2018, she joined the Board of Directors of the Milton Historical Society and served as its publicity director. The society is a nonprofit organization founded in 1904 to collect, preserve, publish, and exhibit artifacts and records relating to the Town of Milton. She served 2 years.
  • Milton Village Neighborhood Association. Keyes is a founding member of the Milton Village Neighborhood Association, formed in the spring of 2018, to preserve the quaint, historical village, while encouraging a residential voice for controlled, well-designed, and appropriately scaled improvement projects.
  • Milton Library Foundation. She was a board member of the Milton Library Foundation from 2015-16. The foundation is the fundraising arm of the Milton Public Library.
  • St. Mary of the Hills Parish. Keyes served as a religious education teacher from 2007-2008 and served as a member of the Milton Catholic Collaborative Caring Circle from 2011-2012.

Keyes graduated from Bentley University in 1988 having earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in business communications. In her earlier career path, she was a journalist at the Walpole Times and the Boston Herald. For more than 20 years she a private investigator. For the past 5 years, she was a communications director employed by the Massachusetts State Senate.
