Milton Select Board to discuss MBTA Communities Act at June 26, 2025 meeting

The Milton Select Board will hold a meeting on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. to address key matters related to the MBTA Communities Act. • Executive Session under M.G.L. c. 30A, § 21(a)(3), where board members will discuss litigation strategy regarding compliance with M.G.L. c. 40A, Section 3A—commonly referred to as the MBTA Communities Act—and related regulations (760 CMR 72.00).

• Discussion and Approval of engaging special counsel to assist with matters concerning the MBTA Communities Act.

• Discussion, Update, and Possible Approval of actions pertaining to the town’s obligations under the MBTA Communities Act.

• Adjournment

The MBTA Communities Act requires certain municipalities to create zoning districts that allow for multi-family housing development as part of efforts to address the region’s housing needs. Milton, like other communities served by the MBTA, is working through the legal and planning requirements to comply with the law.
