Summer Art Camp gives children confidence in their ability to create new worlds
One of the most valuable things art offers children is autonomy. In a world where so much of their day is structured; school rules, sports drills, screen prompts – art invites kids to make their own choices. What color should I use? What should I draw? How do I want this to feel? What kind of a world do I want to create?
These arenāt just artistic questionsātheyāre personal ones. Through art, kids learn to trust their instincts, take risks, and solve problems on their own terms. They begin to see themselves not just as students or campers, but as creators; people with ideas worth exploring and sharing.
Art camp gives children space and the skills to express themselves, process emotions and build identity – all critical to mental and developmental growth. Art fosters patience, focus, problem-solving, and creative thinking; all essential skills for school and life.Ā ItāsĀ a nurturing space where kids can shine in their own unique way, takingĀ the time to think and create without the pressure of competition or performance. Itās not just fun, itās developmentally powerful.
When a child finishes a piece of art, theyāre not just holding a finished product, theyāre holding evidence that their ideas matter. Thatās the kind of confidence that lasts far beyond summer.
At the Milton Art Center Summer Camp, each week there are different choices to make – themes and mediums to explore in painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media, all in a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment.
Our flexible, 10-week program has half day, full day, early drop off and extended day options for busy parents. New this year is a stand alone Friday morning art camp for drawing and painting. Classes are held outdoors under tents or the air conditioned indoors when raining, or if it gets too hot.
Parents say it best, āMy daughter was in the 4-6 year old class and I was impressed with the degree of sophistication and materials of the projects she told us about. It seems as though the teachers really taught art lessons and craftsmanship to build lifelong skills, beyond just completing an activity.ā
Our teachers are paying attention and know how important art has been for them and can be for your child too in building confidence, expressing emotions,Ā and discovering who you are. Theyāre here to show you that making art is fun, each messy, hands on project at a time! Check out our weekly offeringsĀ to see which camp will make a difference to your child.
