Milton Conservation Commission to vote on Lower Neponset river cleanup resolution
The Milton Conservation Commission will hold its next public meeting on Thursday, July 31 at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom, with a significant vote scheduled regarding environmental efforts in the region.
At the top of the agenda is a vote to pass a resolution in support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recommended protocol for removing contaminants from the Lower Neponset River. The river, which has been listed on the National Priorities List due to hazardous pollution, is the subject of ongoing cleanup efforts, and the EPA’s guidance outlines steps to remediate toxic sediment in the waterway. The Commission’s support would mark an official endorsement from the Town of Milton for the proposed plan.
Also on the agenda is the continuation of a Notice of Intent hearing for 1395 Canton Avenue, initially heard on July 19. Details of the proposal have not yet been finalized, and further discussion is expected during the meeting.
The meeting will conclude with new business and adjournment.
Public participation is encouraged. Residents may attend virtually using the following link:
