Milton Select Board to meet July 8: Climate, MBTA housing, budget, liquor licenses on agenda

The Milton Select Board will convene on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Paul Kelly Community Room at the Council on Aging, 10 Walnut Street. Residents can also attend remotely via Zoom meeting link here, or by phone at 1-929-205-6099 (Meeting ID: 898 2333 0369, Passcode: 461193).

The meeting will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance and public comment, followed by a robust agenda that touches on climate action, housing compliance, financial transparency, and town appointments.

Major Items on the Agenda:

  • Climate Action Plan Committee Update: The board will receive the latest progress report and outlook on the town’s climate initiatives.

  • MBTA Communities District Compliance Application: Members will review and potentially approve an application aligning Milton with state housing mandates linked to MBTA communities.

  • Milton Budget Coordination Committee Appointments: The board is expected to discuss and finalize appointments to this key financial oversight committee.

  • Financial & Operational Review Contract: A proposal to hire Capital Strategic Solutions for a comprehensive town financial and operational review will be up for approval.

  • Liquor License Zones Discussion: A key agenda item involves a discussion and possible approval of liquor license zone recommendations in connection with House Bill 4089, a Home Rule Petition seeking five additional licenses.

  • Fall Special Town Meeting Planning: With the October 27, 2025 Special Town Meeting approaching, the board will begin identifying potential warrant articles and refining the timeline.

  • Town Counsel and Labor Counsel Review: The board will discuss updates and potential approvals regarding legal representation for the town.

  • Town Administrator’s Evaluation: The annual performance review for Milton’s Town Administrator is also scheduled.
