The Milton Public Library announces adult programs for August 2025
During the month of August, the Milton Public Library is offering some nice programs for adults. On Tuesday, August 5, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Keys Community Room there will be an adult mat yoga class. This is a gentle fluid yoga experience with instructor Sheila Armstrong, although space is limited, so registration at our website is required. It is suitable for ages 13 and up. We will practice asanas (yoga poses) and breathing techniques to come into the present moment, and will create more space in our minds and bodies. More details about the class are available at this link, where you may also sign up: https://miltonlibrary.libcal.com/event/14337860
On Monday, August 11, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Room, librarian Sara Truog will lead us in a fun book chat called “Booked for Lunch.” Once a month you may join MPL staff for this silent book club: a half hour of socializing and eating lunch together, and a half hour of silent reading time. We’ll talk about what books we’re reading and share out top picks (and maybe the duds too). Participants should bring a bag lunch and a book to read. This program is for adults only. Registration is required to attend, so please use this link to sign up: https://miltonlibrary.libcal.com/event/14897694 We hope you might join us!
Our Adult D&D program is happening this month on Thursday, August 14, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., in the Conference Room. Calling all adventurers! Join staff Tyler and Kathy for this free ongoing game, and no past familiarity with Dungeons and Dragons is required. DM Kathy is running a homebrew campaign using D&D 5e. Registration is required to participate, so please Email [email protected] to confirm a spot. You may check this out too at our website: https://miltonlibrary.libcal.com/event/14764056
And finally there will be our monthly Wednesday Night at the Movies happening on August 20, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Keys Community Room. The film we are showing is: “The Amateur” and it stars Rami Malek as a brilliant, but deeply introverted decoder for the CIA working out of a basement office at headquarters in Langley, who life is turned upside down when his wife is killed in a London terrorist attack. When his supervisors refuse to take action, he takes matters into his own hands, embarking on a dangerous trek across the globe to track down those responsible, his intelligence serving as the ultimate weapon for eluding his pursuers and achieving his revenge. No signup is required to attend this free screening. The rating of this movie is PG-13 due to strong violence and language, and while the violence is not overly graphic, it is present throughout and can be intense. Other actors include Laurence Fishburne, Rachel Brosnahan and Jon Bernthal. The running time is 122 minutes, and we hope to see you there! Here’s the link too: https://miltonlibrary.libcal.com/event/14911138
