Megan Nolan announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 5

Dear Neighbors,

I am excited to announce my candidacy to become a Milton town meeting member in Precinct 5. My husband, sons, and I have lived in Milton since 2011. I love Precinct 5 and its proximity to Blue Hills, as you can often find me on the trails in Blue Hills.

I received a Master’s of Science in Nursing: Nurse Executive Leadership from Benedictine University. I have been a nurse since 2006, spending most of my career in the operating room. Most recently, I lead the operating room at Boston Children’s Hospital at Lexington. I also serve the nursing community to improve patient care nationally, on the Board of Directors at the Association of PeriOperative Nurses. I will continue to further my experience and education when I start an Executive Master’s of Business Administration at the Yale School of Management in July. As a pediatric nurse, I am incredibly passionate about supporting our children as they grow and become confident individuals.

I’m running for Town Meeting Member to help guide the town with strategic growth and a focus on equity and inclusion. As a town, we need to be strategic and forward-thinking. Even though something has worked well in the past, it may not be as effective in the future. Blockbuster Video is an excellent example of a strategy going well until video streaming became readily available. We need to be able to look around the corner to see what opportunities could benefit our town. For example, I support building a new school in town to accommodate our growing school-age population.

As a town, we must filter all our decisions through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
