Veterans Day Ceremonies on November 11th, 2018 in commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Armistice Day on November 11th, 1918.

The Town of Milton, American Legion Post #114 and Milton Veteran Services office are proud to announce this year’s Veterans Day Ceremonies for November 10th and November 11th, 2018.

On Saturday, November 10th, the Town of Milton will dedicate the intersection of Norman and Truro Streets to the memory of USMC Sgt. John T Carota, Silver Star recipient (posthumously) for Valor in Vietnam.

A small ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10th at the intersection of Norman and Truro Streets, Milton MA.

Sgt. John Thomas Carota served with the USMC 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, Kilo Company. He was Wounded In Action May 13, 1967 on Operation UNION, and Killed in Action September 6, 1967 during Operation SWIFT.

He was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart medals for his actions in combat.

The Silver Star Medal is the Armed Forces’ third-highest personal decoration for valor in combat. The Silver Star Medal is awarded primarily for gallantry and/or Valor in action against an enemy.

A street sign will be placed designating the intersection of Norman Street and Truro Street in the memory of USMC Sgt John T Carota KIA Vietnam 1967.

Veterans Day ceremonies will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. on the lawn in front of Milton Town Hall.

Milton’s Board of Selectmen and Veteran’s Services Officer Albert L Williams, along with members of the American Legion Post #114 will conduct ceremonies to pay tribute to all our Veterans.

This year’s ceremony will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, November 11, 1918, bringing an end to World War 1.

USMC Major Michael Devin, a Milton native will be the event’s featured speaker.

The ceremony honoring all veterans will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a procession from Milton High School down Canton Avenue to the Town Hall beginning at 10:45 a.m.
