Public meeting to be held to address deer management program

Massachusetts Department of Conservation a­nd Recreation and Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game to host public meeting

When: Wednesday, August 23, 2017, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Where: Milton High School Auditorium, 25 Gile Road, Milton

At this public meeting, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) and the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game (DFW) will provide an overview of outcomes from the 2016 Deer Management Program, review findings from deer abundance surveying conducted in early 2017, and provide information on the proposed Deer Management Plan for 2017.

DCR and DFW have issued a single report outlining the logistics, operations, and harvest results of last year’s controlled hunt; the results of deer abundance surveying conducted earlier this year, and the proposed Deer Management Plan for 2017.  The full report can be viewed by visiting:

The public meeting will be an opportunity for members of the public to learn more about DCR’s deer management efforts in the Blue Hills and to provide input and comment on the 2017 Deer Management Plan.  The presentation from the public meeting will be viewable after the meeting on DCR’s website at http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/dcr/public-outreach/public-meetings/.
