East Congregational Church of Milton to hold fundraising dinner for Hyperacusis Research

When: Saturday, October 21st, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.
Where: East Congregational Church, 610 Adams Street, Milton

“Better Choices to Manage Everyday Noise” will be the featured presentation at a fundraising dinner for Hyperacusis Research Limited at East Congregational Church of Milton at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017.  Speakers include Xiying Guan, a postdoctoral research fellow of Eaton-Peabody Laboratories and Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Dan Gauger, Distinguished Engineer at Bose Corporation and Bryan Pollard, President of Hyperacusis Research.

The presentations will include informative details on basics of the auditory system, how to keep your ears healthy and the basics of noise reduction techniques.  Also, a brief overview of hyperacusis will be given.  Hyperacusis is a hearing condition that causes a person to be unable to tolerate everyday noise levels without discomfort or pain.

We hope to raise over $15,000 toward a pledge to fund two grants with the Hearing Health Foundation, one to Mass Eye and Ear, and one to the University of Buffalo to study the causes of hyperacusis and the interaction between sound perception and the sensation of pain.

Dinner will be a chicken and pasta buffet catered by Abby Park, Milton.  The suggested donation per person is $75.  There will be art work available for sale.  A generous donor has pledged to match all gifts, up to $10,000.

Contributions can be paid at the door, in advance by check payable to “Hyperacusis Research, Ltd.” P.O. Box 1295, Marlboro, MA 01752.
