“Eclectic Book Chat” to discuss American War by Omar El Akkad (c2017)

Book chat to be held on Wednesday, June 27th

Library Director Will Adamczyk will hold his “Eclectic Book Chat” also on Wednesday, June 27th starting at 7:00 p.m. in the upstairs art gallery. The book to be read in advance is American War by Omar El Akkad (c2017). This is an audacious and powerful debut novel: a second American Civil War, a devastating plague, and one family caught deep in the middle – a story that asks what might happen if America were to turn its most devastating policies and deadly weapons upon itself. Sarat Chestnut, born in Louisiana, is only 6 years old when the Second American Civil War breaks out in 2074. Check out this fascinating read for more details. You may reserve a copy of it by calling the Reference Department at 617-698-5757, x. 3 for staff help to place a reserve, and please join Will for a lively discussion about it.
