Northeast 7v7 Junior League to offer safe introductory experience to football

League to meet on Saturdays for 8 weeks

Milton High School Football Coach Steve Dembowski and Westwood High School Football Coach Brad Pindel have joined forces to establish the Northeast 7v7 Junior League. The league is designed to offer middle-school-aged kids a safe introductory experience to football. We will accomplish this by following the 7v7 format in which the ball carrier is tagged instead of tackled, and no blocking is allowed.

The league will begin on Saturday, September 22nd and will meet weekly on Saturdays from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. for 8 weeks at either Milton or Westwood High School. Teams in the league will learn basic football concepts and skills while competing weekly in games.

The 7v7 style of football has become extremely popular at the high school level and features a 40 yard regulation field with a ten yard endzone. Each team will play with seven players at a time and the action is continuous. This is fastest growing style of football in the country because it’s fun!

Teams will have an hour of action a week, which will include a brief practice and games. All athletes will receive a uniform with their name and choice of number. The only required piece of equipment is a mouth piece but cleats are recommended. Games will be played on turf fields.

Registration is now open for students in grades 5-7 from Milton and Westwood.
