Milton’s new Traffic Mitigation Committee seeks resident input to improve traffic issues
Public information session to be held on Thursday, February 28th
Milton’s new Traffic Mitigation Committee, which has been charged by the Town’s Select Board with exploring “opportunities for lessening, mitigating, and calming the effects of automobile traffic on public ways located within the Town,” has begun meeting and is in the process of developing a work plan to guide its efforts. One of its first actions was to name Jeffrey Mullan, who served as Transportation Secretary under Governor Deval Patrick, as its Chair.
“We have a talented group,” Mullan said, “and we’re excited to investigate the tools that may be available to help improve the traffic issues in Milton.” Mr. Mullan said that input from Milton citizens was critical to the Committee’s efforts: “We need to hear from the people, and we’ll use community meetings and online resources to make sure that we do.”
To that end, the Committee has scheduled a public information session to be held on Thursday, February 28th, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Keys Room at the Milton Public Library 476 Avenue, Milton. The Committee is also in the process of finalizing an interactive mapping tool to solicit input from the public. More information will be released when the tool is online.
The other Members of the Committee are: Tracy Dyke-Redmond, who will serve as Secretary; Lt. Mark Alba of the Milton Police Department; Richard Burke, who also serves on the Town’s Master Plan Implementation Committee; Town Administrator Michael Dennehy; Planning Board Member Brian Furze; and Select Board Member Mike Zullas.
The Committee’s goal is to submit a report on its work to the Select Board by December 2019.
