Milton Public Schools bus transportation registration opens May 15

Mark your calendar! All Milton Public Schools students who plan to ride the bus – whether free or paid – must register.

All students planning to ride the bus in the 2019-20 school year MUST register to ride regardless of ridership in the 2018-19 school year. Even students who ride for free based on their grade and distance from school MUST register. Ridership WILL NOT be rolled over into the 2019-20 school year.

In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws governing school transportation, the Milton Public Schools provides free bus service to and from school for all students in Kindergarten through 6th Grade who live greater than two miles from their assigned school. The remaining seats on all bus routes will be offered to additional students living closer than 2 miles in grades K to 6 and students in grades 7-12. Seats are filled on a first come, first served basis. When buses are full, we will generate a waiting list. Please note there was a waiting list in the 2018-19 school year. Additionally, per MPS policy, any student with an outstanding Food Services bill greater than $20.00 is not allowed to register for any fee-based program (including bus service) until that balance has been paid off.

Registration:

Registration will open May 15th.

All bus registrations are due by Friday, June 14th.

Registrations received after June 14 will be placed on the waiting list and processed beginning the week of September 9th on a space available basis. No registrations will be processed in July & August.

Families with more than one bus rider will need to register each child individually but only are required to make one overall payment and can use the same UniBank code showing the payment of $550 in separate registrations.

Please note that registration must be completed, including payment if applicable, in order to be assigned to a bus. Incomplete registrations will be placed on the waiting list.

  • Students in grade K to 6 living more than two miles from their assigned school: No bus fee
