Statement from the Select Board Regarding the Ice House Development

STATEMENT OF THE CHAIR AND THE VICE CHAIR OF THE SELECT BOARD ABOUT THE ICE HOUSE DEVELOPMENT

As announced during the Select Board’s public meeting on January 22, and as authorized by the Select Board, we, along with the other Town officials, met with the developer of the Ice House property on January 23.

It was a frank and fruitful discussion. The result was that the developer has agreed to vice its plans for the Ice House property to work toward accomplishing three goals:

    1. A design that is more appropriate given the physical form of the neighborhood and the character of the Blue Hills Parkway area;
    2. A small-footprint store/coffee shop that would bring some basic amenities to the neighborhood; and
    3. Reconsideration of the proposed density.

The developer anticipates that these revisions may take two to three months.

We appreciate the developer’s willingness to engage and to consider the needs of the neighborhood and the Town, and we look forward to continuing to work together for a mutually beneficial project.
