June 9 Select Board: Inspectional Services update and more

The Select Board echoed congratulation wishes to the graduating class of 2021. They also mentioned the importance of the observance of the upcoming Juneteenth holiday.

As of June 15th, the state of emergency order has been lifted, and the changes to the remote meeting structure were discussed. Some board members feel a hybrid version of remote and in person would be a good idea going forward. This issue is to be discussed again at the next meeting.

Inspectional Services Department update

Joseph Prondak, the town’s Building Commissioner joined to provide an Inspectional Services Department update. It has been a robust year for building and real estate in the town. A downturn in construction was expected and the town saw the opposite. There are many active construction projects taking place, therefore the department is looking to add additional staff members, as well as upgrades to the electronic permitting system.

Town Administrator’s report

The East Milton Square construction project is currently underway. A presentation is to take place at an upcoming meeting which will provide updates on the project, as well as allow the public to ask any questions, or discuss any concerns regarding the project.

Milton’s Farmers Market

Milton’s Farmers Market is back starting Jun 17. The location is at Wharf Park.

A request was made by the Historical Commission for a sign at 25 Wharf St. The sign will remain true to the town’s colors while being aesthetically pleasing.
