Massport WRAP allocation

Chase Berkeley, Director of Public Works, joined to discuss funding allocation from WRAP. Governor Charlie Baker has approved $100M in funding for the Winter Recovery Assistance Program, also known as WRAP. WRAP provides cities and towns with funding to improve their transportation networks in response to harsh winter weather. The town would be allocated $324,000.00 to use at their discretion, with the caveat of repairing roadways and sidewalks from damages caused by plows.

ARPA discussion

The Finance Committee is reviewing small business funding assistance applications. The committee also discussed and recommended 1.5 million be allocated to the DPW water main project. This would be a great opportunity for the town to save money and be a huge benefit to the town overall. DPW would hope to begin this project in August.

Additional items of discussion

High bids for materials and labor costs are posing a challenge in the building of the new animal shelter. However, it is imperative to continue to make progress. Therefore, the contract for the new animal shelter will be discussed further and possibly amended in the future.

The Fire Station Building Committee is ready to move forward with the G & R Construction contract. The Select Board is in support of this.

The Town Administrator Screening Committee is planning to conduct interviews beginning in mid June, with the plan to recommend candidates to the Board, mid to late June.

The next Select Board meetings are scheduled to take place on May 18 and June 1.
