Fire Department updates

Fire Chief, Chris Madden, joined to discuss departmental updates.  He mentioned that the budget is tight, and they are watching it very closely. At this time they are providing limited outside training, have a full staff, and hope to begin the hiring process soon. He also addressed the recent Blue Hills brush fires. He urged the public and nearby residents not to worry as these fires are no where near the magnitude of West Coast fires, and they have help from neighboring towns fire departments. In the event of future fires and if necessary, alternate routes for residents to use and or evacuation plans will be put in place and shared with the public. The department can also tap into reserve funds if necessary for financial assistance.

Covid-19 update

Laura DelleChiaie, Assistant Health Director, joined to discuss Covid-19 in Milton. There has been an increase in positive cases. The Health department is continuing to monitor and track information and the latest guidance. She also provided a presentation regarding PermitEyes 20/20, a software program designed to streamline municipalities permitting processes and procedures. The Health department is seeking ARPA funds to pay for this new software program. The Select Board is in support of this.

An amendment to Article 34 has been brought forth which will provide Home Inc. with a 50 foot buffer, reducing the land use from 6.5 acres to 5.5. The Select Board is in support of this amendment.
