Milton resident Velma Glover is honored as a Hero Among Us by Mass State Lottery and Boston Celtics

Velma Glover was honored on April 18, 2023, when the Boston Celtics hosted the Atlanta Hawks in Round 1, Game 2 of the NBA playoffs. Velma Glover works as a school nurse in the Boston Public School system. One December morning, she was alerted that a colleague was having a seizure.

Glover rushed to his aid and noticed he was struggling to breathe. She directed staff to call 911 and to secure an AED while she administered CPR without hesitation.

As a result of Glover’s swift actions, the man regained consciousness and made a full recovery.

For saving a colleague’s life, Velma Glover was honored as a Hero Among Us on April 18, 2023, during Round 1, Game 2 of the NBA playoffs when the Boston Celtics took on the Atlanta Hawks at home.
