Celebrate Irish culture at the Milton Public Library with two events in March

‘Gan Ainm’ Celtic Trio Concert on March 9th and ‘Ireland 101’ Zoom Talk on March 12

There will be two programs in March to celebrate all things Irish!

Celtic trio “Gan Ainm” will entertain us on Saturday, March 9, at 2:00 p.m., with some fun and lively tunes before St. Patrick’s Day! Musician Sean Murphy, who plays the tin whistle, has been performing Irish music for generations at sessions on Cape Cod, and he will be joined at the MPL by bazooki player George Arata and by fiddle player Mark Oein, for an hour of foot-stomping music.

No signup is required and this concert is great for all ages, so please join us!

Sean Murphy, who is also an Irish historian, will be back at the MPL on March 12 at 7:00 p.m. for a Zoom talk called: “Ireland 101: A Virtual Tour of Irish History.”

In this program you will learn all about when and why people arrived in Ireland, who the Gaels were, why did Ireland become “Christianized,” when did the Norman make a conquest of Ireland, why was there a Great Hunger/Famine in the 1840s, and much more in this interesting presentation.

Please sign up at: http://tinyurl.com/49sjpyya to receive the Zoom link, and we hope to see you there!

This event is kindly sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library and is free and open to all. The Milton Public Library is located at 476 Canton Avenue, Milton MA.
