Laurie Stillman announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 2

My husband and I have lived in Milton for 32 years, raising our two children here. I have spent those 32 years active in town affairs, including as Co-Chair of the Tucker School PTO, as member of the School Building Committee, as two-term member and Chair of the Milton School Committee, and as Town Meeting Member for over 25 years.

Professionally, I recently retired as a Health and Human Services Consultant, assisting organizations across New England with establishing new programs, policies and procedures, strategic planning, and conducting research and data analysis. My consulting services extended to the Milton Health Department as Director of the Milton Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and by conducting the town’s first Community Health Assessment.

I also consulted to the Milton Public Schools, launching their Social Emotional Learning program.

Finally, I founded ‘The Partnership for a Healthy Milton’, a nonprofit organization promoting community health and health equity in town. I have always supported adequate funding for town services, whether for the public schools and library, public health department, Council on Aging, or Fire and Police departments.

Priorities in the coming years include supporting the building of a new school to address student overcrowding, increasing the availability of flexible and affordable housing and transportation for residents across the age spectrum, preventing and preparing for climate change, and improving townwide communications to better inform all families’ access to opportunities available to them.

I am running again for Town Meeting Member in Precinct 2 and would appreciate your vote on April 30th.
