Milton, We Did It—Together! – Opinion

Dear Neighbors, Dear Community,

What a joyful, hopeful moment for our town! On April 29th, Milton showed up like never before—with record voter turnout, incredible energy, and inspiring community spirit. You heard the call and responded with heart, action, and unity. And for that, I say thank you.

Congratulations to our newly elected leaders—Winston Daley, Meghan Haggerty, Liz Dillon (our new Town Moderator!), and all the incoming 2025 town leaders. Your commitment to Milton’s future is exciting, and I truly believe we are beginning to see the emergence of modern leadership that reflects the very best of Milton—diverse, thoughtful, and forward-looking.

To the candidates who didn’t win but gave it their all: Your courage to step up speaks volumes. I admire your spirit, your effort, and especially your character. You’ve already made a difference, and I hope this is just the beginning of your journey in community leadership.

Out with the old, in with the new. There’s a fresh wind blowing in Milton, and it feels good. The work ahead will not be easy, but we’re in it together, which gives me hope.

So yes, I went to bed happy (stuffy sinuses and all) and woke up proud—proud of my neighbors, proud of this town, and motivated by what’s possible when we lead with courage and come together with purpose.

The work continues—not just for those elected but for all of us. Let’s stay engaged, informed, and involved. Milton’s future is ours to shape and already looks brighter.

Let’s go, Milton!

With joy and gratitude,

“Uncle” Bouba Somaneh Dieme

Community Advocate & Proud Milton Resident
