Boston Globe photographer Bill Brett will discuss his latest book, Boston Irish on March 16.

With portraits and stories— including an Irish tenor, a colorful funeral home director, a 99-year-old nun, and a New York Times best-selling novelist—Bill Brett chronicles a unique period in the city’s history. In Boston Irish, Brett turns his lens on the city’s Irish-Americans from newly arrived immigrants through the second and third generations, exploring the immigrants’ experiences in photos and text.

This book marks Brett’s fifth collaboration with veteran Boston journalist Carol Beggy, who writes the text to accompany the distinctive portraits that appear in all of Brett’s books.

The program will have time for discussion and a question and answer period.

Light refreshments will be served. No reservations are required.

Sponsored by the Milton Historical Society.
