Milton Public Library to host fun and informative programs throughout May

During the month of May 2017, the Milton Public Library is offering some fun and informative programs for adults and families. On May 2 starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Keys Community Room, Tea Specialist Lisa Tavakoli, former owner of Hallowed Herbs Tea House, takes us on a journey to the three major black tea producing regions of India: Assam, Darjeeling and Nilgiri. In this “Teas of India Talk,” learn about the history of the country which is the largest exporter of the world’s favorite beverage. Advance registration is required for this event so go to www.miltonlibrary.org to sign up.

The Milton Knitting Group will meet on Thursday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. in the lower level Conference Room, so please just drop in with your project and spend time with other enthusiastic knitters and the always helpful expert: Nina Zonnevylle. Also our Spring Drop-in Writing Workshop with Betty Siegel continues on Wednesday, May 10 and Wednesday, May 24 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Conference Room, so come by if you enjoy sharing your writing with others or you can just listen and learn. This program is open to all levels of authors, and we encourage you to attend to get good ideas and helpful advice from Ms. Siegel, an experienced writer and teacher.

The First Friday Book Chat with Director Will Adamczyk will be held on May 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. also in the Conference Room. This is an informal conversation about new titles and authors, and it’s a great place to find out about good reads that should not be missed. If you’re looking for your next great book for vacation, attend this monthly program. Then on Monday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m., Lisa Ahern, the Floral Designer for Cedar Grove Gardens, returns to the library with her talk: “Fresh Spring Ideas for Planting and Decorating.” Lisa’s creations will be raffled off to lucky guests at the end of the evening. Don’t miss this event guaranteed to make your home a vision of Spring! No sign-up is required.

On May 30 starting promptly at 6:00 p.m. (PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER TIME), our “Tuesday Night at the Movies” pick will be Marvel’s “Captain America, Civil War.” The most explosive clash to ever rock the Marvel Cinematic University ignites a firestorm of conflict in the game-changing epic, “Captain America: Civil War.” In the wake of collateral damage, government pressure to rein in the Avengers drives a deep wedge between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), causing a catastrophic rift that turns the two friends into bitter enemies. Against a backdrop of divided loyalties, their fellow Avengers must deal with the fallout. Pick a side in this spectacular adventure, packed with mind-blowing action and edge-of-your-seat suspense! The rating is PG-13 for “extended sequences of violence, action and mayhem” so it is not suitable for small children, and the running time is 147 minutes. Please come and bring your teenagers to this event which will be held in the Keys Community Room, and please note AN EARLY START TIME OF 6:00 p.m.

All programs are kindly sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library, and are free and open to the public. Call Jean Hlady, Adult Services Librarian, at (617) 698-5757, x. 3 or go to our website at www.miltonlibrary.org for more details about our events.
