Pierce Middle School athletics program to receive funds from Play Fore Pierce Golf Tournament

Golf tournament to be held at Granite Links on April 30th

Dear Milton Community,

On April 30th, the Play Fore Pierce Golf Tournament (playforepierce.org) will be held at Granite Links Golf Course in Quincy, MA to help support and sustain the Pierce Middle School athletics program. The golf tournament will raise valuable funds to support the expansion of athletics at the Pierce. Expansion could include the addition of another Pierce Middle School team sport such as soccer, volleyball or some other sport and/or the upgrade of facilities to support existing teams such as spring track. As you may know, school-based sports programs have been linked to many positive behaviors in adolescents. Scientific research supports this as do our own observations of the amazing success of the Pierce Middle School cross country, track, and basketball teams. Beyond the obvious health benefits, participation in school sports fosters problem solving skills, self-esteem, and social competence and decreases the likelihood that students will participate in risk taking behaviors.

Please consider gathering a foursome to come out to Granite Links on April 30th at 11:00 a.m. for a fun day of golfing to support a fantastic cause! Please note there will be a reception at Granite Links following the tournament, and entrance to the reception is included with your registration. Tickets to the reception only are also available – so tell all your friends! Register for the tournament by visiting (playforepierce.org) and click on the registration tab!
