Fifth Annual Dan Breen Memorial 5k Red Shoe Run/Walk to be held on September 8th
Funds raised to help support hospital’s Emergency Department
Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital –Milton (BID-Milton) will present the fifth annual Dan Breen Memorial 5k Red Shoe Run/Walk on Saturday, September 8th at 10:00 a.m. at Cunningham Elementary School, 44 Edgehill Road, Milton, MA.
The 5k run/walk is in memory of Daniel J. Breen, a transport aide in BID-Milton’s Emergency Department, who was killed in a car accident in October, 2013. Mr. Breen, a Scituate native, was also a 2013 graduate of St. Anselm College and a member of the South Shore Anchors Rugby Football Club.
Funds raised by the run/walk will go towards disaster preparedness projects and continuing professional staff education for BID-Milton’s Emergency Department.
“Dan defined the phrase ‘All American,’ and his enthusiasm and humor are simply irreplaceable,” said Cecelia Pukt, chair of the Red Shoe Run/Walk Race Committee. “This 5k road race and walk not only honors Dan legacy but also helps raise funds for a service that helps others in their time of greatest need and that Dan felt so strongly about – the BID-Milton Emergency Department.”
Runners/walkers may preregister online at www.redshoerun.racewire.com. The registration fee is $35. Registration by check or cash the day of the race begins at 9:00 a.m. at the school.
