Looking for a spot for a casual date? Or maybe some place to hang with friends before the big game? Then The Lower Mills Tavern is the place for you. Located on the Milton-Dorchester line, this little restaurant is worth checking out.

The Lower Mills Tavern has such a variety to its menu that it will easily please anyone. With choices like fried wontons to wood stone pizza, your cravings are sure to be satisfied. I would highly recommend getting the original chicken sandwich. The fried chicken sandwich — served with bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch, and cheddar cheese and a side of fries — is the perfect comfort food. The buttery chicken literally melts in your mouth. They also have vegan options, like the sweet potato burger: a sweet potato patty topped with Gouda cheese, onions, lettuce, tomato and mustard. This loaded burger with melty cheese will be able to satisfy your appetite and then some. The Tavern’s pizzas are also worth getting if you are in the mood. Made in a wood fired oven, you can’t beat the taste! They offer classics, like margherita pizza, as well as unique flavors, like asparagus. The Asparagus pizza is covered in caramelized onion, roasted garlic, burrata cheese, evoo oil, and of course asparagus. This unique dish is the perfect treat for veggie lovers. But it’s not just all about the dinner here – the appetizers offered are just as enticing!

When it comes to appetizers there is a lot to choose from, but definitely don’t overlook the daily cheese board. Served with three types of cheese that change daily, homemade pickles, and bread, it makes the perfect pre meal snack. Also offered as an appetizer is fried stuffed olives, which are filled with pastrami and Vermont cheddar cheese, and are served with a side Russian dressing. This unique treat will be able to win over anyone’s heart.

And if breakfast is more your thing, then look no further. Offered exclusively from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on the weekend is a full brunch menu. For breakfast, they have delicious options, like homemade blueberry crumble cake and French toast topped with strawberries, vanilla flavored whipped cream, and maple syrup. These sugary treats will be able to please the kids and the parents alike!

And If you are in search of a drink instead of a bite to eat, the Tavern also offers a wide variety of cocktails. The cocktails served here are all made with homemade syrups, juices, and infusions. These one-of-a-kind indulgences are perfect if you are looking for something to spice up your evening. If beer is more your thing, don’t worry. With a bar filled with choices of craft beer, beer lovers have the chance to explore to their heart’s content.

The Tavern is decorated in exposed brick giving it a rustic feel perfect for a date or just getting a bite to eat with friends. The restaurant offers high top and regular tables for seating and is easily handicap accessible due to a wheelchair ramp provided at the entrance. With nice staff, great food, unique drinks, and beautiful decor, you really can’t go wrong when choosing to stop at the Lower Mills Tavern for a bite to eat.
