Getting Your Name on the Ballot

Running for election is simple. Nomination papers are available in the Office of the Town Clerk, have your neighbors and friends who are registered voters sign your papers and submit the signed forms to the Town Clerk by the deadline.

To Be Nominated for Town-wide Office

Signatures of at least 50 registered voters of the Town are required on the nomination papers. The Town Clerk must certify these signatures so we always suggest obtaining about 25% more just to be safe.

To Be Nominated for Town Meeting

Signatures of at least 10 registered voters of your precinct are required on the nomination papers. The Town Clerk must certify these signatures so we always suggest obtaining about 50% more just to be safe. Some current Town Meeting Members will be seeking re-election but all seats are available in each precinct.

The deadline to submit signed nomination papers to the Town Clerk’s office is March 9, 2021 by 5:00 p.m.

A minimum of 50 certified signatures of registered voters of Milton are required for Town-wide office and a minimum of 10 certified signatures of registered voter of Milton within the candidate’s precinct are required for Town Meeting candidates.

The Town Clerk’s office recommends that you acquire at least 20% more signatures than the required number to meet the certification minimums.
