Select Board February 23: East Milton deck schedule, LED billboard and more

During the Public Comment period, a few callers discussed their opposition to the proposed digital billboard for the parking lot of 2 Granite Ave. The Select Board has scheduled a vote on the proposal to take place at the March 9th meeting.

East Milton deck schedule

Representatives from the state Department of Transportation and project engineers joined to provide a short presentation and update on this project. The installation of new and refurbished light poles was to take place last week, while most of the road and sidewalk work has been completed as well as the installation of new traffic signals. There is still electrical work to be completed in order to activate the new traffic signals and switch over to a brand new traffic control system. 2 Granite Ave., LED billboard proposal

The John Flatley Co., is seeking the approval from the state Outdoor Advertising Board to approve construction of a 47-foot-high, two-sided billboard that would go in the parking lot of 2 Granite Ave.  This proposal has been met with a lot of opposition. The Select Board plans to vote on the proposal at the meeting to take place on March 9.

Search for new Town Administrator 

Select Board members Michael Zullas and Richard Wells were appointed to the search/screening committee for a new Town Administrator following the departure of former Town Administrator, Michael Dennehy. Former Town Administrator, Annmarie Fagan, has agreed to act as interim Town Administrator during the search and hiring process. The 9 member committee, which includes the two Select Board members will begin the search process soon with the hopes of the process moving quickly. 

Annual Town Meeting-5/22

An article submitted by the Retirement Board regarding the cost of living increase for retirees was approved for submission. Also, a Citizens Petition article regarding Algerine Corner will be included in the Warrant. The Select Board will follow up on a potential School Building Committee article at the meeting to take place on March 9.

Additional items of discussion

In person meetings are scheduled to resume as of April 1. The Select Board plans to revisit this issue at the meeting to take place on March 9.

The next meetings are scheduled to take place on March 9 and March 23.
