Prohibition Wine: A True Story of One Woman’s Daring in Twentieth-Century America – author talk to take place January 3

There will be a virtual author talk on Tuesday, 1/3, at 7:00 p.m. with Marian Leah Knapp about her book called Prohibition Wine: A True Story of One Woman’s Daring in Twentieth-Century America (She Writes Press, c2021).

In 1918, Rebecca Goldberg – a Jewish immigrant from the Russian Empire living in rural Wilmington, MA – lost her husband, Nathan, in a railroad accident, a tragedy that left her alone with 6 children to raise.

After starting to raise chickens to support the family, Rebecca started selling alcoholic beverages in addition to her eggs to add to her meagre income.  Learn all about this fascinating story at the Zoom talk, but you must register in advance at the MPL website to receive the link to attend.

All of these events are kindly sponsored by the granting agencies and collaborative organizations mentioned previously, and by the Friends of the Milton Public Library. They are free and open to all. You may find our website at: www.miltonlibrary.org, and for any questions, Email [email protected] or call the Reference Dept. at (617) 898-4964. The Milton Public Library is located at 476 Canton Avenue.
