Milton lost one of its own today in a tragic car accident.

To Milton Public Schools Parents/Guardians and Staff:

I am sad to have to tell you about a tragic accident this afternoon that claimed the life of one of our Milton High School seniors, Kate Lisa Etienne. Kate Lisa was hit by a vehicle on Brush Hill Road by Aberdeen Street where she was transported to the hospital and later died.

Kate Lisa entered the Milton Public Schools in September 2004. She was a student at the Tucker Elementary, Collicot Elementary, Pierce Middle School, and spent the last four years at Milton High School. Kate Lisa also had a sister, Yamilay Etienne, who graduated from Milton High School last year in June 2015.

We wanted to inform you as soon as possible and will communicate further as we have information about arrangements. We are currently coordinating efforts to ensure that Milton Public School faculty, counselors and support staff from across the district are on hand tomorrow morning to support students throughout the day.

This is a tragic loss for Kate Lisa’s family, Milton Public Schools and our community. I am sure that you join me in keeping Kate Lisa and her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers tonight and in the days, weeks and months ahead.

Sincerely,
Mary C. Gormley
Superintendent of Schools
