Pilgrims’ First Winter to be discussed in Milton

Saturday, January 14, 2017

Pilgrims’ First Winter – Tom Begley, Executive Assistant at Plimoth Plantation, takes a close look at the primary sources describing the first winter in Plymouth and discusses some of the legends that have crept into the story over time.  By looking at sources like William Bradford’s Of Plymouth Plantation, we will see how legends developed in part when the manuscript was missing for nearly 100 years and how the actual evidence presented by the longtime governor challenges aspects of some stories.

The Milton Historical Society’s “History at the Hearth,” the Winter Lecture Series, is offering two programs, both meeting at the Suffolk Resolves House at 1370 Canton Avenue, Milton. Each hour-long program starts at 10 a.m. Space is limited to 20 people per session and reservations are required.  RSVP to Eleanor at 617-696-4115 or [email protected].
