Survive the boredom of winter with the Blue Hills Trailside Museum

Blue Hills Trailside Museum to host fun creativity workshop in the great outdoors

Are you cringing as winter approaches? Does it dull your energy and creativity? With lower energy reserves, the cold and dark can trigger fatigue and depression. Combat it by getting outside! In this workshop we’ll find creative ways to use the winter as a springboard for creativity and appreciate the unique beauty winter brings to the landscape, as well as opportunity for retreat, renewal, and reflection.

In this workshop, we will embrace the opportunities of the season, exploring the outdoors mindfully and capturing some of its beauty with our smartphone cameras. The program begins indoors, with a review of your phone’s camera features, along with suggestions for making great pictures. Next, we’ll venture outside for a gentle walk with picture taking along the way. We’ll return to the museum for post-hike stretches and a discussion of winter coping strategies. We’ll also discuss how to make better pictures with your phone, everything from apps for enhancing the quality of your pictures to ways to keep your pictures from just staying on your phone! Handouts will be provided with details and resources.

Please bring drinking water, your smartphone, and a charger, and wear layered warm clothing and walking/hiking shoes.
