Dark Tide by Stephen Puleo to be focus of Milton Public Library’s local history book group, Sept. 9

Library Director Will Adamczyk will hold another online meeting of his “Local History Book Group” on Wednesday, 9/9 at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. The book to be read in advance is Dark Tide by Stephen Puleo.

This fascinating true story tells the tale of a steel tank filled with 2.3 million gallons of molasses which collapsed on Boston’s waterfront on January 15, 1919, demolishing wooden homes and the brick fire station. The number of dead was not known for days and it would be years before a landmark court case determined who was responsible for the disaster.

Call the Reference Dept. at (617) 898-4964 to place a hold on the book or download it from Overdrive using this link: https://tinyurl.com/y3jaql6r, and then enjoy a casual chat about it with Will.

Advance registration is required and starts 8/9.
