Nora Harrington announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 2

Dear Precinct 2 Neighbors,

I recently moved to Precinct 2 from Precinct 3 where I served as a Town Meeting Member (TMM) for 6 years.  I’m honored to run for TMM in my new home precinct!

My family and I moved to Milton from Dorchester eight years ago.  My children went to Glover, my daughter goes to Pierce, and my son is now at a school that better meets his needs.  We love  Milton and plan to be here a long time!

I hope that we can speak soon as I welcome your thoughts on precinct and town-wide issues.  I believe that, as a town, we need to find better ways to meet the needs of all Milton residents.  We have so many needs and not nearly enough funding for everything that we’d like to do.  We need Town Meeting Members who educate themselves on the needs of the town and believe in the value of dialogue and feedback.  Among other things, I believe in supporting our elderly neighbors, supporting our schools, protecting our environment, and making sure that all Milton neighbors feel welcome and included– all while carefully managing our budget!

In addition to being a TMM, I served on the board of Milton’s SEPAC (Special Education Parents Advisory Council) for multiple years; I’m a founder of Milton Sports for All, a volunteer-run group which brings kids together to meet new friends and enjoy non-competitive sports; and, I’m active in my parish of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Milton.

I have over 30 years of experience in both the for-profit and non-profit worlds– including extensive budgeting experience from building and running a business for over 16 years. I have a BA in Economics from Williams College and an MA in Theology from the Episcopal Divinity School.  I bring my education, work experiences, and my experiences as a neighbor and a parent to the role of being a TMM.

I thank you for taking the time to read this and I humbly ask for your support.  Don’t forget to vote, Tuesday, April 25th, at the Council on Aging– we should all have a voice as we work together to build a better Milton!

Please know that you can always reach me now or in the future at [email protected].

Warm regards,

Nora
