Unlocking creativity: Milton Public Library hosts February 2024 art exhibit showcasing 50 years of artistic expression behind bars.

2022 was Prison Book Program’s 50th anniversary and for decades, they have been grateful recipients of many pieces of amazing artwork. Typically incarcerated individuals send these paintings and more to the Prison Book Program as a token of gratitude for a shipment of books they have sent to them. These artists are self-taught and many of their images are book-themed.

There will be an exhibit in the Milton Public Library’s Wotiz Gallery this month, from February 1 – 19, 2024, consisting of 18 of the best pieces of framed artwork, although the works will not be for sale.

The Prison Book Program administrators just want people to view this lovely art and to enjoy it. The program is located on Hancock Street in Quincy, MA and for more information about it, to to prisonbookprogram.org.

Please consider stopping by at the Milton Public Library in February to view this incredible display by some very talented artists.

For more information about applying to display your art in the Wotiz Gallery, please Email [email protected] or call the Reference Dept. at (617) 898-4964.  We hope you might come to our gallery this month for a unique viewing experience!
