Meredith Hall announces candidacy for Milton Planning Board, 2024

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I am excited to announce that I am running for reelection to the Milton Planning Board. It would be an honor to earn your vote. As a resident of Milton for over 30 years, I believe what we have in Milton is rare, and it is critical that we listen to all the residents and understand the potential impacts of changes on each neighborhood. I am so grateful to live in this town with my husband David and our three children, Kendall, Parker and Lizzy. Having served on many boards in Milton, I believe my understanding of our community provides a unique perspective on planning and zoning issues. In adhering to Milton’s Master Plan, I pledge to continue to seek opportunities for historic preservation, preservation of open space and high-quality affordable housing. My goals will be to continue the following:

  • Offer a multi-faceted approach to planning which strategically creates collaboration between transportation, education and affordable housing needs.
  • Provide an alternative to 40 B development through active management and implementation of Milton’s Housing Production Plan in a thoughtful process to minimize impact of development and prevent potential ramifications of negative zoning changes.
  • Implement Design Guidelines for all new development in local business districts and high impact locations.
  • Support local businesses to continually enhance the quality of our local businesses and services provided.
  • Improve aesthetics of highly visible gateway entrances to Milton.
  • Utilize Milton’s Master Plan as a guideline for historic preservation, preservation of passive and recreation open space, and create a plan for where we would like to see high-quality affordable housing.
  • Work with state officials and neighborhood leaders to achieve a thoughtful solution

to MBTA zoning that promotes a harmonious relationship between new construction and existing neighborhood fabric.

It would be my goal to maintain the character of Milton while improving the quality of life for its residents. The passing of the Community Preservation Act, for example, has provided a wonderful opportunity to fund many essential projects. My experience includes serving as a member of the Milton Historic Commission, member and past President of Milton Garden Club, Village School Board member and Chair, Glover School PTO and Cultural Arts Committee, Milton Public Schools MPACE Committee, Cunning Park Foundation Board, original CPA Study Committee representing historic preservation, Historic New England Outreach Committee and Town Meeting Member, Precinct 3. In addition, I began working in real estate over 30 years ago and currently work as an active real estate agent in the Milton Coldwell Banker office, identifying supply/demands and future trends.
