Robert O’Brien announces candidacy for Milton Town Meeting Member, Precinct 8

My name is Robert O’Brien. My friends call me Bob.  I’ve been a proud Milton resident for over 17 years—having moved here because of the town’s great schools and tremendous quality of life. For the last three years, I’ve been privileged to serve as a Town Meeting Member for Precinct 8 (taking part in all meetings during my tenure). I’d be honored to serve once again as one of your Town Meeting Members and respectfully ask for your vote at the Annual Town Election on Tuesday, April 30th.

I live on Pleasant Street. My family roots in Precinct 8 go back to the 1920s. My mother, Audrey Bernard O’Brien, grew up on Brae Burn Road and was a Milton High graduate. My wife, Katie Sheehan O’Brien, was raised on Lawrence Road. Both of my children, Tim & Maggie, went to Collicot School. My daughter attended Pierce and Fontbonne.

As for me, I’m a graduate of BC High, St. Anselm College (BA) and Suffolk University (MBA). I’ve been in commercial banking for almost 12 years and previously had an extensive background in marketing communications, lead generation and inside sales. In my spare time I serve as an Election Worker for the Town—working 15+ hour days on election days–helping get the polling place ready, checking in voters and processing their ballots. I also serve frequently as a Lector at St. Agatha Church. In the past, I’ve volunteered as the Cubmaster for the Cub Scouts (Milton Pack 5) and have coached basketball for the town’s winter “Snowball League” as well as St. Aggie’s in-house & travel leagues.

I’m running for re-election for Town Meeting Member because I want to continue to give back to the town I love. These last three years have really brought home to me the importance of public service and maintaining a strong sense of community. I think my education, professional experience, and ability to truly listen with an open mind enable me to consider all sides and help advance the common good for all the residents of Milton. Thank you for your consideration!
