Nomination papers for Milton’s town election are due March 7

Participate in the 2017 Town of Milton election!

Town Clerk, Susan M. Galvin, announced that Nomination Papers for both Town Wide and/or Town Meeting Members are available.

All nomination papers are due on March 7, 2017.

Ms. Galvin would like to encourage all residents to consider running for office. “Citizen participation in Town government is essential to providing the residents of Milton with clear access to our Town government.”

The annual Town Election will be held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

To be placed upon the ballot, Town Wide candidates must obtain a minimum of 50 legible signatures from registered voters. Town Meeting Member candidates must obtain a minimum of 10 legible signatures from the precinct in which they reside.

Town Wide Offices:

  • One SELECTMAN and SURVEYOR OF THE HIGHWAY for a term of three years
  • A TOWN TREASURER for a term of one year
  • One ASSESSOR for a term of three years
  • Two SCHOOL COMMITTEE members for a term of three years
  • One PARK COMMISSIONER for a term of three years
  • One Member of the BOARD of HEALTH for a term of three years
  • Three TRUSTEES of the PUBLIC LIBRARY for a term of three years
  • One CONSTABLES for a term of two years to fill a vacancy
  • One TRUSTEE of the CEMETERY for a term of five years
  • One member of the HOUSING AUTHORITY for a term of five years
  • One PLANNING BOARD member for a term of five years

Representative Town Meeting Member:

  • Precinct One:        Nine for a term of three years
  • Precinct Two:       Nine for a term of three years, One for a term of one year
  • Precinct Three:      Ten for a term of three years, One for a term of two years
  • Precinct Four:       Nine for a term of three years
  • Precinct Five:        Eight for a term of three years, One for a term of one year
  • Precinct Six:          Ten for a term of three years
  • Precinct Seven:      Nine for a term of three years, One for a term of two years
  • Precinct Eight:       Ten for a term of three years; One for a term of two years
  • Precinct Nine:       Ten for a term of three years, One for a term of one year
  • Precinct Ten:         Eight for a term of three years
