I am happy to announce that I am running for re-election for Park Commissioner in April.

I was elected in the 2011 Election and have held the position for the past six years. Prior to that I served as a Town Meeting Member for three years. Being a life long resident of Milton, I have a passion for keeping our town the type of place we can be proud of and a place where families can enjoy all that we have to offer. Keeping our parks clean, safe and updated is a huge part of that.

In the past six years I have worked hard to maintain and improve the parks of Milton. During my time on the Board, I have participated in many updates such as the rebuilding of the lower Milton High School practice field, three new tennis courts at Kelly Field, and the redevelopment of the Pierce Middle School Athletic Field. Additionally, we have partnered with Milton American Little League for the installation of batting cages at Andrews Park and Mary C. Lane Park. We also continued our partnership with Milton National Little League by updating the Piatelli Baseball Field at Gile Road. I continually support the Gym Buddies Program and annual town events such as the Park and Rec. Easter Egg Festival, the Ed Baker Fishing Tournament, and the successful Summer Concert Series. We have secured funding with the Parks Department and Board of Park Commissioners to support and partner with the ‘Playground Planners’ group to begin to dismantle our current playground equipment in preparation for new updated playground structures. I believe this successful initiative is only the beginning and I am committed to enhancing all of our fields and parks.

I am very proud of what we have collectively achieved in the past six years. There are additional opportunities to support and improve the parks. My commitment to this is why I am running now for re-election. We are no longer focusing solely on basic services for our parks. We are constantly looking to what we can do to make our parks better, if not the best around, and searching for new locations and open space for our growing population in Milton.

I am a life long resident who graduated from Milton High School. I studied at Saint Anselm’s College and Bridgewater State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. My wife, Amy, also grew up in Milton and we have 2 children, Kevin Jr. and Madeline. We know from experience what it means to families to have a place for children to play having spent endless hours at the parks with our own children. I have coached thirty years of Little League and the Babe Ruth League Baseball and ten years of Youth Basketball. I have the unique pleasure of mentoring my son, Kevin, who now coaches baseball in the Milton Youth Baseball Program. I am currently employed by the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children working with special needs children, which is a daily reminder of the importance for the accessibility of outdoor space for kids to continue to learn and grow.

The election is on Tuesday, April 25, 2017. I look forward to an energetic re-election campaign. It will again be an opportunity to talk with town members and hear first-hand what is important to the people of Milton. Please consider voting for me so we can continue on this path of greatness we are headed on.
